Danny Adams Medical Fund

On January 4th around 8am, my father, Danny Adams collapsed at work. He was unresponsive with no pulse and the emt's had to shock his heart twice and were able to resuscitate him. They rushed him to the Topeka hospital Stormont Vail emergency room. Still unconscious he was intubated and they induced hypothermia to save as much brain function as they could. After 48hrs, a few seizures, a collapsed lung, chest tube and many ups and downs, he was stabilized enough to start the rewarming process. Much to the doctors surprise he regained consciousness 16hrs later and slowly started remembering his life and memories with loved ones.

By Friday, although weak and in pain he seemed to be himself again, with a clear MRI. The doctors are calling it a miracle. The performed a heart cath and found 3 of his main arteries in his heart are blocked. After 5 days in the ICU they moved him to the heart wing of the hospital where he will stay until they perform open heart surgery and bypass the 3 bad arteries in his heart.

We are all so thankful to have him still with us and we are thankful to god for the miracle he has given us, and allowing us to have more time for him to see his grandchildren grow. There has never been a more worthy or loving man. He has worked his entire life to provide for our family and wouldn't hesitate to give you the shirt off his back when he has nothing more to give.
Unfortunately, my mother and father have had several medical issues arise in the past few years. They have been without insurance, and have lived paycheck to paycheck to stay afloat. We are unsure at this point if he will ever be able to return to work, and with Dad being the sole provider, we all are doing as much as we can to help financially. He has a long road to recovery, even after surgery, we want him to focus on getting better and making a speedy recovery and not worrying about how they are going to pay for the cost of living and the extensive medical bills that are sure to start piling in.

We are asking to anyone who is willing and able to lend a helping hand to alleviate as much of the financial burden we can so he can live the rest of his life enjoying his family and the second chance god has given him.
