SPURGEON’S CHAPEL RESTORATION APPEAL

Donation protected

Charles Hadden Spurgeon always had a fond love and appreciation for Waterbeach Baptist Church, the place where he began his ministry at the age of seventeen.

The chapel (built in 1863) is on the ‘Spurgeon Trail’ and over the years we have had the privilege of welcoming many Christians from around the World who come in search of the heritage of the ‘Prince of Preachers’.

We believe Spurgeon’s Chapel is historically significant and stands to remind us of a time when God moved powerfully through the preaching of His Word; today we are a growing church that still holds fast to the importance of preaching God’s Word.

However, 157 years has taken its toll on the building and a considerable amount of money is now needed to restore Spurgeon’s chapel to its former glory.  In particular there is an urgent need to replace 28 large windows and doors and we would also like to build a memorial room to house the Spurgeon artefacts and provide further storage space.

Your help is critical if we are to raise the £120,000 to enable us to complete this work.
