Please Help Save Harley
Hi, my name is Gracie, and I’m raising funds for my sweet puppy, Harley. On February 17th, she was rushed to the emergency vet due to a serious tail wound. Unfortunately, the injury was far worse than we initially thought, and the only way to stop the infection from spreading to her spine is to amputate her tail.
When I first rescued her, she was in rough shape—completely bald, with her tail covered in painful scabs. The worst part was the tip, raw and fragile. I took her to the vet the very next day, desperate to help her heal. They assured me that, with time, her body would recover. And for a while, it seemed like they were right—her fur grew back, and the scabbing slowly improved.
But the tip of her tail never fully healed. She would lick at it constantly, and every time I called the vet, they reassured me it was part of the healing process. I trusted that she was just trying to make herself better.
Then, this past week, I noticed something was wrong. She was biting at her tail more than ever, obsessively licking, but she wouldn’t let me near it. My heart sank when, on Monday morning, I saw blood. I rushed her to the emergency vet, terrified of what they might say.
That’s when I learned the heartbreaking truth: the tip of her tail had never been healing. It was dead—“necrotic,” the vet called it. All this time, the dead tissue had been spreading infection through her tail, and in her pain, she had bitten a hole into it, making it bleed. The infection had only gotten worse, and now most of her tail was necrotic. The vet told me there was only one option to save her: amputation. If we don’t remove her tail now, the infection could reach her spine, and I could lose her.
She has been through so much already, and it breaks my heart to think of her in pain. I just want to give her the chance at the happy, healthy life she deserves. Anything helps, and I appreciate any support in getting her the surgery she so desperately needs.
All donations will go directly towards paying back Harley’s emergency surgery and recovery. Any amount helps, and if you’re unable to donate, please share to help spread the word. Thank you so much for your kindness and support!
