Vivienne’s ❤️

We found out at 24 weeks our baby girl will be born with a very rare critical congenital heart defect.  For those wanting to know the full name it’s Tatrology of Fallot with pulmonary Atresia, with a VSD, MACPA’s and no central pulmonary arteries. In a language most can understand this means our sweet baby did not develop any pulmonary arteries (the arteries that carry blood to the lungs), she also has a fairly large hole in her heart which due to the other heart defect is a good thing but will need to be surgically closed eventually.   We have had a few weeks to process this and research our brains out as well as meet different specialist.  We have been lucky enough to have found a great surgeon  in Stanford California that specializes in this exact critical heart defect and he is willing to treat our baby.   That being said we will be temporarily relocating out to California to deliver and have our baby girl in the best place possible to give her the treatment possible.   We have thought of all the reasons this is crazy but we have also thought of how we would do anything in our power to make our children healthy so this is the  only option in our eyes.

The treatment may work 2 ways per the surgeon out there, she may fall into the category that won’t have to have open heart surgery until she is 3 months old or she may have to have it shortly after birth.    We will not know which one until her lungs inflate when she is born.    Sadly this is not a one time fix surgery, she will have to have many open heart surgeries as she grows.

Asking for help other than  prayers has been very hard choice for my husband and I, we have both worked very hard for everything we have but we will both have to step away from our full time jobs to move as a family if 3 across the country.   We are both blessed to have great employers that will definitely welcome us back with open arms however long that we might be away but we will need help covering our normal bills plus the travel expenses and medical bills this will incur.   We understand everyone has different issues and if prayers is all you have to offer than we are blessed to receive that, thank you to everyone in advance!  Our family is very strong and we will make it through this and come out and even stronger family of four!
