On Friday, November 3rd, Bonnie and Josh heard the news that no parent wants to hear. Their precious 15-month-old, Vivian has Leukemia. She has been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). This will require many rounds of treatment and will mean Vivian and Bonnie will be in the hospital for the next 6+ months. She will be able to go home for a week to rest and recover between treatments. (Most likely a pattern of 3-4 weeks in hospital and 1 week home).

WHAT CAN I DO???

CALL OR WRITE!
I know many of you have asked how you could be of help. To be honest, a simple text or voice message does a lot to remind Bonnie and Josh of the large support system they have behind them. Days at the hospital are very busy and hectic and Bonnie might not be able to respond but she does appreciate each and every message of support.

In Vivian’s room, Bonnie has made a wall of cards and photographs of her friend’s children. If you have a picture of your child with Vivian or even just a smiling picture of your baby you could send that to her for Vivian’s wall.

VISIT!
Bonnie is also appreciative of people coming to visit. Nothing lifts spirits like the smiling face of a friend and cup of coffee. Bonnie and Josh are being so incredibly strong, optimistic and positive in the face of all of this… please follow their lead and keep positive as well. Smiles and love, go a long way.

However, please keep in mind that Vivian’s immune system is very weak. There are masks available to wear in the room and hand sanitizer right outside her door. BUT If you suspect that you or someone in your family is sick please DO NOT visit them. Better to be safe than sorry.

MEALS!
Bonnie is staying by Vivian’s bedside 24/7 which means most of her meals come from the hospital. If any of you have ever had an extended stay at a hospital, you know just how depressing eating from the cafeteria everyday can be. If you have interest in bringing her a homemade meal or perhaps a Postmates gift card she would greatly appreciate it.

Also, I live close to the hospital and am available to deliver anything you might want to send while they are there. You can reach out to me for my mailing address and I will happily deliver directly to them.

UPDATES!
At the current time there is not information about how Vivian is responding to chemo. She will be going back into the hospital for her second round on Tuesday, December 5th. The hope is that the chemo is working and a bone marrow transplant won't be necessary but there may come a time where getting a bone marrow transplant might do Vivian a great deal of good. If you would be interested in being tested to see if you are a match let me know and when I get more information I can keep you in the loop.

Bonnie was initially resistant to the idea of a GOFUNDME as she didn’t think she needed it. However, a little rainy day fund never hurt when you must spend so much time away from work and at your child’s side. PLUS this page will serve a double purpose to keep everyone informed of Vivian's progress- Which I will do as best I can as events merit!

LASTLY,
It’s hard to express just what it means to have a hand to hold and a friend to listen when life throws you a massive curveball. Bonnie and Josh are so incredibly grateful to all of you for your generosity both financially and emotionally and spiritually.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
