The Problem:
In Cojutepeque, El Salvador there is a problem. Many children are being born in poor circumstances that prevent them from obtaining the financial resources to pay for a formal education. These children are usually forced to work by their parents in the streets selling candy, bread, or services at a very young age (7-10) so that they can contribute to their household. The problem is that because most of these kids are on the streets they are at risk for a lot of horrible things that coincide with living in a poor town like gangs, prostitution, rape, and drugs. This reality leaves children with very little hope for the future. It leaves them with a disempowered mentality that usually continues the poverty cycle within these communities.
Why care?
Truth be told, El Salvador isn't an extremely poor country, although it is slowly developing, it does contain a rampant poverty rate and violent gang culture that spreads amongst its children. It is VivaCojute's belief that one scholar can one day do much for this country and for our world. Most of us here in the U.S. have good jobs and are in a position to help give the gift of a bright future to a child. I hope that you can find it in your good heart to share the equivalent cost of one meal or one piece of clothing to empower one student with the opportunity to become something greater than they every thought possible.
Who is going to receive my donation? Your donation will go directly to this wonderful school in Cojutepeque, El Salvador(Association New Life). It will be allocated to buy books, computers, supplies, uniforms, and food that the school needs to take care of its students. All the money is reinvested in these students futures.
Who is going to handle this donation?
Your donation here will be handled by Adentro Cojutepeque, a wonderful non-profit organization based out of Los Angeles, California. With the $3000 we're aiming to donate we will be able to furnish the whole computer lab, buy dozens and dozens of textbooks, and help purchase bundles of food supplies to help them with their food initiative program. Many students are already enrolled and I'm happy to say that the school Nueva Vida has already had its first graduation class. It is our hope that we can help keep this program alive so that we can help them proceed to empower even more students to proceed with their education.
