Vital-Measuring Mask Protects Against COVID
The pandemic rages on
The United States is seeing a new rise in cases, with its number of pandemic-related deaths exceeding that of any other nation in the world. Hospitals across the country are once again being pushed to the limit as we come to terms with the new normal.
We are looking to raise $10,000 for preclinical testing and FDA validation of VitalMask - an advanced smart respirator mask, embedded with vital-measuring sensors, allows patients in the ER to receive care and protection while allowing nurses to easily monitor all patients at once.
Our team at Vita Innovations has been working hard on what we and many doctors and nurses believe will be a solution to emergency room overcrowding. In new hotspots such as Arizona and Texas, emergency rooms are inundated with sick patients and medical personnel are stretched thin. In these spaces, patients may wait up to 4-12 hours before receiving attention, all while packed with other sick patients who risk cross-transmission of viral particles.
Why a goal of $10,000?
We plan to allocate $4,000 for hardware and software development, and $6,000 for preclinical testing and FDA validation.
Partnering with physicians at prominent academic hospitals
The Vita Innovations team is in the process of finishing our first MVP. In the highly concentrated medical device industry, creating, marketing, and obtaining government approval for a device requires funding. This is why we need your help to get to market. With our company formed, medical outreach conducted extensively, and product development progressing, our next steps are clinical testing, manufacturing for testing, and finally deployment.
What track record does Vita Innovations have for success?
Our idea won grand prize at the 7th annual AI Health Hackathon in NYC in February of this year and since then we have successfully raised over $3,000 in donations, participated in a regional program funded by the National Science Foundation, and have been accepted into the MDIC CNY Biotech Accelerator and Launch NY incubators. Moreover, we've been covered on several news articles including Cornell Chronicle and Cornell Daily Sun.
