=====================================================

John and Susan Vitale were united by love and by music. Fate brought them together in the mid-1980s, and shortly thereafter they formed the “Vitale Group,” a band which dazzled audiences throughout the Chicagoland area for the next three decades. With John’s masterful guitar technique and Susan’s tender touch on piano and vocals, the group left an indelible impression on everyone lucky enough to hear them. Indeed, John and Susan were musician’s musicians; their band performing, as they advertised, “All Styles, With Style.”

As committed as John and Susan were to their music, they were even more committed to their family. Over 30 years of marriage they raised three children whom they adored with all their heart. It’s impossible to overstate the amount of time, energy, and love that John and Susan devoted to their kids. Both of them worked tirelessly to instill in them time-honored values of compassion, creativity, humility and hard work.

Like every other couple, the Vitales slogged through the valleys as well as the peaks on the journey of life. In September of 2012, the family suffered a fire which consumed the house they’d lived in for 13 years. Through sheer patience, perseverance, and willpower Susan took the lead in managing the rebuilding process, redesigning the house in her own image and pouring over every detail no matter how small.

On October 27, 2017, the Vitale family awoke to find Susan unconscious in her bed. Paramedics soon arrived to confirm their worst fears. After 60 years of life, she was taken away to the next world. Her loss was sudden, unexpected, and catastrophic for both her family and for hundreds of friends.

John was beyond heartbroken to lose the love of his life. Though he labored for months to manage his grief and push forward to keep his family together, in the end, the struggle was too much to bear. On March 12, 2018 – less than five months after his wife passed – John Vitale died in his sleep.

Though Susan and John are united in the hereafter, those they have left behind are devastated beyond words. None are more affected than their three children; Nicholas, Amanda, and Daniel. The young Vitale siblings are resolved to stick together and help each other through the hard times, but nevertheless, they face an uncertain future. Lingering mortgage debt and other financial issues abound, including the task of sending the youngest child – 17-year-old-Daniel – to college next year.

We ask that you consider the immense hardship the Vitale family is undergoing, and contribute whatever you can to help them out.
