Protective Visors For The NHS Needed

Donation protected
Despite the devastation of #Covid19, there is no doubt that it has also brought us love, solidarity and a sense of COMMUNITY like never before.

Something that the people of Richmond Upon Thames have stepped up to more than we could ever imagine.

Following a post in a private community Facebook group, we were informed that ICU staff are desperately running out of protective visors and that they’re incredibly easy to hand-make.

Did you know that all PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and particularly visors, which are used predominantly in ICU, are strictly single use and are used for just 15-20 minutes at a time?

This means that NHS staff are getting through multiple visors per hour per patient treated, equating to THOUSANDS of visors needed every single day.

So we’ve decided to do something about it.

Our community of Richmond Upon Thames is rallying to hand-make over 2,000 visors to be distributed across a number of London hospitals.

Over 70 households, each producing 30 units, are currently in the process of making this a reality.

[IMPORTANT: No one who is ill or is showing symptoms is allowed to participate. Each unit will be disinfected and assessed for quality control by the hospitals before use].

But we need YOUR help to finish the job.

We would really appreciate it if you could donate something towards the costs of the materials required to supply over 2,000 visors to frontline NHS staff dealing with this crisis.

To give you an idea, each visor costs approximately £1 to make. And whilst we're aiming for 2,000 visors for this first batch, we will be making many more during this time of need so every little bit counts.

The reality is, the ability to wear adequate protective gear is the difference between having the means to save a life or not. How would you feel if you knew you could make a difference to that ^^ outcome?

Join us on our mission and let’s make it happen.

Please note this issue is a matter of URGENCY.   We are battling against the clock to turn this around ASAP.

Thank you for reading.

Love from Kate, Rebecca, Lucy, Russell & the Richmond Upon Thames community xx
