<div>My name is April. I have been trying to keep my head above water after surviving an abusive relationship and losing jobs &amp; income, in 2023, due to going blind in my R eye.

<div>Due to the strain of 100% vision on my L eye, I began losing my vision in that eye. After being seen by doctors at Wills Eye, I needed surgery to prevent complete blindness.
</div>

<div>I am grateful for a charity that helped me get the eye surgery,(October 25) to try &amp; save vision in my Only eye.
</div>
<div>Unfortunately, I have been struggling with complications Post surgery. Improvement ,in vision, is not progressing quite as expected.
</div>

<div><strong>The fear of losing my license, car &amp; Independence is Gradually creeping towards Reality. </strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>As a result, I can no longer work FT. But I do have a very PT job, so I can have some income. I have been approved for disability because of blindness.
</div>

</div>
<div>I was waiting on Medicare benefits, however, I am not eligible at this time due to newly imposed federal regulations. I am now fighting to get Medicaid so I can obtain care to save the low vision in my only eye. However, there will be monthly premiums out of pocket as a result of these regulations, if I get approved.

<div>I am facing extreme financial hardship In maintaining self care &amp; shelter expenses.
</div>

<div>Within a month, Post surgery, Nov 2025, I started to have pain in my jaw. I had no idea I had severe infection from cystic abscesses, in my upper jaw.
</div>
<div>I needed Oral surgery to prevent advanced infection in my Only eye And spreading to my brain &amp; heart.
</div>

<div>I am grateful that I received assistance, as a result of my blindness, in getting Oral Surgery(Feb 26)after suffering months of pain from infection.
</div>
<div>Unfortunately my top teeth could not be saved.
</div>

<div>This will be a long journey of healing both physically &amp; mentally; As I am now faced with unexpected challenges: My Speech has been impaired: I lost my “original” speech. My Face is being impacted; I no longer look like “me.” The unstoppable face “sinking” will present a real challenge in navigating society/work/ life.

<div>But. the biggest challenge is having a Long-term liquid/soft diet. The infection caused loss of bone; no remedies of implants or dentures are possible, so far, unless technology changes.
</div>
<div>The adventures of Finding nutrition, with no ability to bite or chew is difficult, to say the least.
</div>

</div>
<div>Moreover, I am still homeless, in the midst of blindness &amp; declining health…It has been over One Year of trying to find places to sleep, in the hot summer &amp; frigid winter, outside of my car. And, maintaining car expenses has been extremely difficult, jeopardizing my place to “live”

</div>
<div><strong>In these circumstances, I have found great difficulty In taking care of personal &amp; health needs. </strong>
</div>
<div><strong>I am in need of help maintain my car, assistance with attending to medical needs, and some type type of housing, outside of my car, so I can obtain stability with self &amp; health; so I do not lose my independence or life altogether. </strong>
