VIRAL SCIENCE BACKGROUND

At this moment in history, we have observed the alarming and rapid spread of misinformation regarding basic scientific and medical topics related to COVID-19. The World Health Organization (WHO) has recognized this phenomenon as a pandemic in itself, dubbing it, the “Infodemic”.

Viral Science, LLC is a collective of scientists, engineers, physicians and tech professionals. We initially came together to create and find viral content to dispel misinformation regarding important scientific and medical topics.

But we realized that instead of just talking about misinformation, we wanted to solve the problems misinformed people create. 

We knew that we needed to pivot to inventor and support real-world, durable solutions. Harnessing new or existing technologies to improve health care from delivery and access to innovation can accomplish this. 

With our new goal in mind, we created The Viral Science Foundation, Inc (VSF) which will allow us to expand our reach into research and development of cutting edge digital health tools. We need your help to grow it.

Through The Viral Science Foundation we will leverage the status of a 501(c)3 organization to win competitive grants and philanthropic funding.

To address areas of public health and clinical medicine impacted by misinformation. There are real effects on the medical outcomes of real people and real communities. At our core, we bring expertise, innovation and diversity together to inspire solutions to the world’s most pressing health challenges. 

We feel especially compelled to help vulnerable and black, indigenous and people of color (BIPoC) communities create and sustain emotional, physical and environmental health. 

Viral Science in all it’s iterations offers a clarion call to action and truth in a sea of clambering voices, peddling misinformation and confusion.

VIRAL SCIENCE SEED CAPITAL FUND RAISER GOAL

Our goal is to raise $150,000, to develop two AI-driven platforms to combat misinformation by creating digital health tools with real-world, clinical impact. We have started platform development on two early-stage projects using artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) tools.

VIRAL SCIENCE TEAM

Our founder has been a participant and organizer for the MIT Hacking COVID-19 and Hacking Racism series since April 2020. Several of our founding members are still involved with other hackathons. 

Our core group is spread across the US, Europe and South Asia and consists of the experts in Business development, sales and marketing, data analysis, science and engineering, medicine and AI tool development.

Our advisors and mentors are from the MIT Hacking Racism in Healthcare and Hacking COVID-19 communities, as well as physicians, scientists and public health researchers.
