3D Printer to open my own business
Hi, I'm Vincent (19), I am a self taught 3D artist who has been learning the craft for five and a half years now. Previously I had created designs for 3D Animated films, but around two months ago, the opportunity arose for me to take 3D designs I made from scratch and bring them to life. First I get reference pictures, such as this:
I then create a design polygon by polygon (approx. 40 hours for this 4 & 1/2" long model) that is meant for 3D printing:
Then the model was printed on the 3D printer at a local college:
Lastly once it is primed you can really see the intricacies of the model:
This along with several other models were a test to see just what can be done with a powerful enough 3D printer. The $4,000 goal will allow me to buy a Formlabs Form 2 3D printer (which is what was used to make this model ^). I want to open my own 3D printing business of making custom originally designed miniatures for games like Dungeons and Dragons and other tabletop games, and do so for a lower cost than big companies.
3D art is something I love to do. And this printer will open many doors for me to use me talent doing what I love. Any contribution you can give will be appreciated!
