Villella Memorial Room @ FPL

The public library always has been important in the lives of our family. Toni and I regularly participated in the summer reading program, and my Eagle Scout project was to establish a lending library for a neighborhood retirement community. Our grandmother Ruth was a longtime board member of her local library, and her daughter—our mother Janet—followed in her footsteps, serving for many years as a board member and president in our hometown. So it only made sense that the Franklin Public Library should have a special room dedicated in our mother’s memory, thanks to the many donations received after her passing in 2002.

After our father John died two years later, we donated the proceeds from the estate sale to the library, to provide upgrades for the room and the children’s section. The library continues to serve the community in new and exciting ways, but to keep up with technology and the ever-increasing demand for services, more upgrades are needed.

Our parents would have celebrated their eightieth birthdays this year—Dad on October 18 and Mom on December 1. So, over the next several weeks, we are asking you—our family, friends, and colleagues—to help us celebrate and keep their memories alive by donating to the Franklin Public Library.

Thank you!

Toni and Frank Villella
