OUR START
Fatu Kollie founded the organization in 2010, just a few years after coming to the United States as a refugee. Consumed by her belief that every Guinean child should have a right to education and a chance to escape poverty, she set out on ambitious humanitarian efforts to establish a safe house for the street children of Guinea. In this house, children are provided for, fed well, entertained and educated in the local government operated school.

Today, supported by her own family funds and funds from friends and well-wishers, ITAVA operates a residential for 26 children taken off the streets, orphans and those with no one to care for them. They are house in a secure and safe environment where they are fed, provided for educated. A support staff of 4 tend to the needs of these children and the facility operates 24/7 365 days a year.

These children, aged between 2 and 14 years, need your support in every way that matters. From shoes to writing materials to books to play toys. We also need to purchase computers to support their education.

WHAT WE'RE DOING NOW
Our objective is to raise $30,000 in the next two months in order to maintain our operating budget for the next year. Our short-term objective is to provide a great Ramadan party for these children and relocate them to a safer environment close to the city of Conakry where we can provide running water and other much needed basic resources such as clean toilets, protection from mosquitos and electricity. We also need to purchase computers for our IT classes and hire an IT teacher.
