Victoria Goes To London

Donation protected

Hello everyone!!
Victoria has been accepted to the Hollins University Abroad Program and will be traveling to and interning in LONDON this summer for seven weeks.

Here is a little back ground
Victoria is a second-year Horizon student majoring in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing and Multicultural Literature.  She has received a scholarship that will cover most of the comprehensive fees for this trip. It is our hope that you are willing to support her to cover the additional expenses. These fees included the remainder of the comprehensive fees, airfare, visa fees, food and personal expenses. We are anticipating approximately an additional $8,000.

No adventure is complete without its nitty-gritty finances
Attached here is the financial rundown from the Hollins' website.

"THE INTERNSHIP These are just a few of the organizations previous students have worked with during their London Summer Internships. Members of Parliament, Dulwich Hamlet Football Club, Marriott Hotels, Venture Business Research, Shorts International Film, Carlton Books, Cutting Edge Press, Tesco, Jane McAdam Freud, Travel Channel, National Portrait Gallery, British Museum, Westminster Archives, Perfect Storm Media, Prospect Capital, Liberal Democrats 2011, Germain Financial Associates, Imperial College, Theatro Technis, and National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain."

Please feel free to peruse Explore the Possibilities (PDF) at the bottom of the Hollins website page.  The university website strives to keep it's viewers well informed!

Victoria is in the process of working with the internship-partnership program and will be excited to share her work assignment with everyone as soon as she finds out.

The  Hollins Travelers' experience
The Hollins student's interning in London, including Victoria, have the opportunity for many learning experiences over the summer. While the website names some of these experiences, here are a few of the ones Victoria is most looking forward to:
* "Contemporary Britain" class
*  Traveling paths paved by centuries of writers
*  Working along side creative professionals
*  Four days in Scotland

A note from mom
Through many conversations over the past week, I have been reminded that my daughter is very humble and private. This form of fundraising is my idea. I want her to find delight where ever she can, and this part of her undergraduate experience is one that I need help with. If you are able to help, THANK YOU SO MUCH. If you are not financially able, please keep her in your prayers.  The past twenty-five years have shown both her and me that it does take a village to raise a child. I am forever grateful for my community. Love to you all.

Keeping in touch
Victoria looks forward to sharing her appreciation of you from London. Tips, Tricks, and advice on navigating the London streets always welcome :)
