Victor's Battle Against Cancer

Hace solo unos cuantos meses, nuestro hermano, tio, y amigo Victor estaba trabajando duro.

English Version

Only a few months ago Victor; a father, brother, uncle and friend, was tiredlessly working to provide for his son and their home. Victor is someone who has always worked hard at one, two or three jobs at the same time. He is someone who is really giving, happy, and self-reliant.

When Victor started feeling unusually weak a few weeks ago, he pushed it aside and continued working. However, the weakness continued to grow and take over his days. He stopped eating since his stomach could no longer hold solid foods. He also started to lose a lot of weight and soon lost 30 pounds altogether. At the sight of this sudden decrease in weight and increased weakness, we hurried him to the best specialist we knew. We realized his former doctor had led him to think he had a virus that would go away with antibiotics.

After an endoscopy and more scans, the new specialist told us this was not a virus, in fact it was stage II gastric cancer. He sent us directly to a cancer center to start the treatments necessary. Victor was started on chemotherapy. In order for his weight not to decrease and his nutrition to be stable enough for a safe process through chemotherapy, he was ordered to attend three visits per week to get IV fluids. He is also on a feeding tube that provides nutrition 18 hours per day. He also has multiple other medications to help with nausea and chemo side effects. This is the only way that we are able to provide him with the strength to endure all that is yet to come with his treatment.

Victor knows that he is not alone in these trying moments. He knows the love of God and has faith in His healing power.  He is loved by his family and friends who are praying and doing their best to support him, but he needs additional financial support to cover the medical expenses.  The road ahead will be a hard one but with your help he can focus on healing and not think about the work he is missing.

We ask for your help in raising funds in what will be an investment for his life. Every donation, small or large, is greatly appreciated. We present these donations to him on behalf of all those who love and support him. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
