Victims of family identity theft

Hi my name is Olivia and I am fundraising for my boyfriend who is a victim of family identity theft! In 2023 my boyfriend started to get letters from debt collectors saying he owes them thousands of pounds which was strange as he has never taken out a loan or credit card before, when we looked into this we discovered someone had taken out loans, credit cards, bills in his name and then never paid them resulting in him being in over £5000 worth of debt! When looking into this we discovered the numbers and email linked to these debts was his mum! After ringing the companies to explain what we had discovered they were no help and sold the debt onto other companies who are now hastling him for the money and threatening him to take him to court. As a couple in our early 20s trying to save for mortgage this is not possible because of the impact this has had on his credit score so we are asking for help to try and clear the debt as she refuses to pay/own up and he could be arrested for this! no idea! As someone who suffers with mental health issues this has been very overwhelming for him and I want to try and help so we can put a stop to this! any donations would be greatly appreciated!
