Victimized Father of 8 went missing!

It sounds like something out of a movie – something that doesn’t happen to people you know. But it is real and happened to our dear friend, Jim Grumblatt. Jim, a devoted husband and father, has dedicated his life to serving his fellow man as a paramedic, emergency room nurse, and hospice nurse. Now he needs our help. During a recent trip to his high school reunion, Jim detoured to Edmonton, Canada to visit a classmate. Two days later, Jim failed to make his flight home and went missing for more than 36 hours. When police finally found Jim, all of his belongings were gone and he was in an altered mental state, suffering from hallucinations and memory loss. Circumstances and preliminary medical testing indicate that Jim was likely drugged and then robbed.

With the assistance of the Canadian police, the U.S. Consulate, and family members, Jim made it home and is doing better. His mind is beginning to clear and his memory and personality are beginning to return. But all is not well. Jim is currently being treated as an in-patient at a local medical facility. He is still suffering from memory loss, cognitive impairment, and hallucinations. It is unclear if or when Jim will be able to return to work. Jim and his family need our help to meet the expenses that continue to mount while Jim is unable to work.

Jim and his family deserve our help. Jim is always the first to volunteer to help and support others. As a paramedic, he often ignored his own safety to assist victims of accidents and crime. As a hospice nurse, Jim is on call around the clock, but not just for his patients. Not so long ago, Jim received a call around 2 in the morning. This time it was a co-worker, not a patient, who was in need. His colleague had been called to a dangerous part of town to assist a dying patient. She feared going alone at that hour. In typical fashion, Jim did not offer to accompany her, but instead insisted on handling the call on his own. Of course, we know Jim’s sacrifice for others does not stop with his professional life. Jim is quick to assist friends who need a helping hand.

Now it is our turn to give back to Jim, his wife, and his children. The funds donated will be utilized to pay medical bills and household expenses for Jim and his family until he is able to return to work. Your prayers and your assistance are greatly appreciated.
