Vicki's House Fire Recovery

On Tuesday, February 13 my aunt Vicki Livesay's house was destroyed due to a grease fire. It was a total loss and she is now not only without a place to live, but also has no furniture, clothing, or family mementos. She literally has the robe and slippers that she was wearing when she left the house, and absolutely nothing else. She was renting and did not have renter's insurance, plus money was already tight so she doesn't have the resources to replace everything. The Red Cross is providing housing through this weekend, but as of Monday she will need to have a new home.
Renting a new place will require funds up front for deposits, first and last month's rent, etc - not to mention funds needed for basics like clothing. We are working with community organizations and a network of friends to find inexpensive and free resources for the physical items in order to keep costs as low as possible, and estimate that $5000 would go a long way toward helping Vicki secure housing and basic clothing and furniture.
Vicki would give anyone the shirt off of her back and she is truly a good person who is facing a very difficult situation right now. She's a grandmother who just wants to focus on caring for her two grandsons and doesn't know how to navigate the loss of the place she called home for the past eight years, not to mention all of her belongings. Even small donations add up, and would help to relieve so much pressure for such a wonderful person.
