Vicki Gunnell Meldrum Cancer-Covid-Pneumonia Fight

Donation protected
I've thought about setting this up for my mom, Vicki Gunnell Meldrum, many times since her Breast Cancer diagnosis the end of September. Now that she is fighting not only Breast Cancer but has now been admitted to the hospital with Covid-19 for 5 days, released 2 days ago and then this morning she took a turn for the worse and has been admitted back to the hospital with Pneumonia on top of trying to fight breast cancer and Covid-19!!! I can’t just think about it anymore. I have to act and I have to ask for all of you to help this one of a kind, selfless, compassionate, generous, loving person that has always put herself last and is always first in line to help out ANYONE in need, no matter the history she has with them. She would be the first person to offer help, down to her last dollar, to even her worst enemy (if she even HAD an enemy, lol!) if she saw them in need. I can't count the number of times growing up that my mom would drop everything when someone in need would call or come by the house, asking for her to help them through whatever crises, big or small, they were going through, my mom was always there, she would give her all. There were many times this genuine concern, kindness and selfless willingness to help and serve caused her tremendous heartache, to the point where she didn’t think she was strong enough to continue helping them but she never did give up on anyone and she never once turned her back on those that sought her out for her loving, helpful, willing and forgiving personality. She taught us that to have true compassion and kindness means you do what you can for those that need help without thinking twice about ever receiving any kind of praise, acknowledgement or even gratitude (and sometimes even losing friendships to stand up and help someone in need...) for the sacrifices and help that you give (the TRUEST example of Christ like service). She taught us by example, to be compassionate and not judge others for anything because we NEVER know what someone else is struggling with.

Now she needs all of us to step up and show her what true compassion, kindness and generosity are from the other side, the side of RECIEVING these gifts from someone rather than giving them. LET’S ALL SHOW VICKI GUNNELL MELDRUM THAT IT IS HER TURN TO SIT BACK AND LET US TAKE CARE OF HER!!! Our dad has not been able to work for a while as he was the only person that could be around mom because of her cancer treatments to reduce her risk of her getting Covid-19….. To say this has caused a tremendous financial burden on them is an understatement. She has insurance but they have a high deductible ($7,000) and then even after meeting that, they do not cover very well at all. They basically have no income right now and bills are piling up fast. She had applied for financial assistance just from the amount of bills from her ongoing Breast Cancer fight but was somehow denied (she was so sick when she applied, she wasn't sure she even did it right). Now she has all these additional bills added on from her continuing fight with Covid-19 and now Pneumonia!
I know this is a very trying time for everyone and we all have our own struggles and times are just plain hard all around but if you can spare even $5 to help our mom with the fight of her life, it would mean everything to her right now! She tried to refuse to go back to the hospital because she is so worried about their finances and just being able to pay their basic bills. She should NOT have to be thinking about that right now!!! ALL OF HER ATTENTION NEEDS TO BE ON SURVIVING!!! Let's raise her up with our love and support in this season of giving and gratitude and show her how important she is to so many of us! Maybe if we can take away her stress of financial worries (covering the deductible, paying what the insurance won't cover, basic living expenses....) even just a little bit, it will give her a chance to just focus on healing. If you don't have the ability to donate money at this time, please just share this with as many people as you can to help this amazing woman, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, friend, neighbor, care taker to all, fight the battle of her life! Thank you in advance to everyone who is able to donate, offer their prayers or for sharing this gofundme page with as many people as you can. We are truly grateful!
