Thesis Film

Hey everyone! I’m Jesse DeRocco. I’m a senior film major at the University of the Arts. In the next couple of weeks, we will begin production on my senior thesis, but I need your help to complete it!

My short is a high concept relationship dramedy focused on my main character who is in therapy. What she learns through therapy shines a new light on her relationship, with some twists and turns that follow. There’s a lot more besides that, but I’m excited for you to see that for yourself. 

Filmmaking is different right now, which is why I set this up. I’m hoping to make this process as safe and worthwhile for the cast and crew as possible. The money will be going towards treating this production like a real job and paying my two actors, who are graduates from UArts, for their time and talent. We’re all working in a small pod to make sure we’re doing our part in keeping everyone safe but, for extra precaution, a lot of what we’re asking for is going towards rapid testing.

The rest of the money will go towards props, makeup, and wardrobe. I have Elissa Grybowski, a junior film major, working with us on some special effects makeup as well, which I'm really excited about. 

I know money is tight right now, so any amount would really mean a lot to us and wouldn’t go unnoticed. As this is my final project at UArts, your help would mean the absolute world and would make this project so much more special for me.
