My sister Amanda was involved in a really horrific accident a week and a half ago. She went cliff jumping at Kentucky lake while boating. She jumped off a 55 foot cliff into the water as we all do for fun, but many people do not understand the risks- just like my sister. When she hit the water, she broke her back and completely shattered/ruptured her t12 vertebrae and has a compression fracture on her t2 vertebrae. She is awaiting a possible spinal fusion surgery and is wearing a body cast/brace for the next several months as her spine needs to be stabilized at all times.

Amanda has her next MRI  to assess spinal fusion surgery coming up soon. At that point, the spinal surgeon will assess to see if she needs spinal fusion surgery since her whole t12 vertebrae is shattered and she will never have a t12 vertebrae again. If they do a spinal fusion, they will need to fuse her t11 vertebrae to her L1 vertebrae and she will have limited mobility the rest of her life due to surgery. We are hoping and praying she doesn’t have to have spinal fusion surgery due to the complications and risks involved.

Please pray for her recovery and that she doesn’t have to receive spinal fusion surgery. As severe as her injuries are, she is so lucky she is not paralyzed. Her injuries could have been so much worse. We are counting our blessings every day and praying that she will make a full recovery with no chronic pain or issues.

Due to this horrific accident, Amanda has to leave working as a nurse at Barnes Jewish Hospital for the next several months because her job includes an intense amount of physical activity with working 14 hour shifts at night. Amanda also has to move out of our house that we share so that she can be under 24 hour care by my parents. This accident/injury has taken Amanda's career away from her and has put her life completely on hold.

Since Amanda will be out of work for the next several months, I pray that every one that knows and loves Amanda will donate to her to help her through this scary, unexpected journey.

Thank you, everyone for your prayers, donations, and love.

We love all of you SO very much!
