VFW 3579 Building Renovation

Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States, Niles Memorial Post 3579 has served Veterans for more than 85 years. We have a proud history of thousands of veterans having passed through our doors as members. Our post is the result of three recent post consolidations. We have purchased our own “Post Home” which we need to remodel in order to continue our mission of assisting veterans. We provide direct financial support to numerous veteran causes, using Poppy Day sales proceeds.  We are committed to community activities such as blood drives, youth baseball, local community activities such as patriotic ceremonies, parades and accepting and properly retiring American flags. We also make donations to local community needs.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and its impact on financial markets, we had to close our operations which has resulted in no income for several months. As a result, we are in need of financial assistance to renovate our new Post Home. Due to changes to the economy, we anticipated the loss of the lease on our current Post Home, which makes our transition to a new Post Home necessary.

 The location is good and we will have adequate parking although the building is relatively small and dated. It was used as a medical clinic and is in need a major remodeling, including installation of a fire sprinkler system.  In addition Steel beams will need to be added to complete the hall as well as redoing two heating systems.  Since we've spoken to our Contractors  the property has much more deferred maintenance and repairs to be completed.

Thanks to all the volunteers who have donated their time to do demolition and clean-up.  We welcome tradesman who can help. There is so much more to be done.
