VFW Post 9274 - Afghan Refugee Drive for NOVA
Hello Friends and Family,
I am a member of the VFW Post 9274 in Falls Church, VA. Today we received an email from their Sr. Vice President (Mr. Dalton Dwinell) announcing a donation drive for the current and inbound Afghan Refugees in the Northern Virginia area. The funds and supply donations will be collected at the post and distributed to local NGOs who are providing the resources these individuals require.
From Mr. Dwindell:
Over 1,000 Afghan refugees have come to the Northern Virginia area in the past few days with over 1,200+ more on the way. They have only the clothes on their back whatever they could carry.
There is an urgent need for donations. The Post will have a donation drop off box for the refugees. Cash and credit card donations will be accepted at the canteen. This request for monetary donations will be provided directly to the Post to support this donation drive.
As an Active Duty Air Force member, I am also currently assisting on the Air Force Crisis Action Team which is assisting with housing the over 50,000 immigrants expected to arrive to the U.S. in the next month. I am hoping to help those in my local area receive the help in donations they need to find a more permanent solution to this crisis. Thank you so much for anything you can donate. If you are local and able to donate goods, please bring them to the Post! Requesting diapers, feminine and other hygiene products, non-perishable foods, clothing and shoes
