Creating the Friendship Garden!!
My name is Josh Gurstein, I am a senior in High School and have been a volunteer at the Valley Friendship Circle for several years now. Valley Friendship Circle (VFC) is a community based 501 C-3 non-profit, non-sectarian organization, servicing the San Fernando Valley, whose primary mission is to pair teenage volunteers with children, teens & young adults who have various disabilities so they can share activities, fun and friendship. I participate in the Friends @ Home program, where each week, a partner and myself visit a young child with special needs. I also attend many of the various programs that VFC offers. I have seen the incredible impact that they have on these kids lives.
2 years ago, VFC was able to purchase a unique property which was bought with the intention of using as a facility where all families will feel welcome and safe, and can come to enjoy time which their volunteer friends and grow together. There is a 5,000 sq ft backyard with trees and dirt which they are trying to now turn into a fun and comfortable center- but there are many expenses that must go into converting the property. Some of those things include installing turf, purchasing playground equipment, benches, etc. We need your help to make Valley Friendship Circle reach its full potential.
