My name is susannah ross

On the 25th of April, an earthquake reaching a magnitude of 7.8 on the Richter scale devastated Nepal.

I am one of the survivors.

When the earthquake struck, I was with a group of friends on a trek in the Langtang valley, between the villages of Syabru Besi and Rimche. Scrambling down the mountain to nearby teahouses for safety, we took cover under a rock above Bamboo village with a group of  foreigners and Nepalese. United by disbelief and angst, we waited for 6 days to be evacuated by helicopter. The tremors and landslides kept us on high alert; we were fueled by adrenaline and fear.

I feel extremely lucky considering my location during the earthquake: between a narrow canyon of crumbling rocks and falling boulders. I am also incredibly grateful to all those who I met on the mountain, and to all those who were involved in the relief efforts of evacuation of the Langtang valley.

I want to thank everybody for their support and help thus far.

I do feel, however, that now is the time to concentrate all of our energies on helping Nepal.

On the 12th of May, Nepal was hit by a second earthquake with a magnitude of 7.4 on the Richter scale. Terrified and traumatized, the Nepalese now live in constant fear of continued seismic activity and destruction.

When will it end?

The Nepalese gave me everything when they had nothing. Now it is time to pay it back.

I want to start this fundraising campaign to give the Nepalese real hope, and the chance of a safe and happy future.

The urgency to assist Nepal is dire.

With the monsoon season fast approaching, many people will be left with nothing, and no prospects of support.

The NGO I am working for was started on the 12th may in Barcelona, Spain by a collection of trekkers whom I met stranded in Langtang valley. The money will be contributed towards a global fund raised by us individuals across the world, united by our experience in Nepal and our desire to give back to the beautiful people.

Our primary aim is to fundraise in order to help the remote areas of Nepal. Many of the rural villages affected are still waiting for food, water and medical support. We hope to relieve areas of Kathmandu valley, Langtang valley and Helambu, which are difficult to access, and subsequently have received little assistance. Our objective is to provide them with food, water and medical supplies. We also intend to contribute with building materials and tools. Focusing on private homes as well as public buildings such as schools and community centers, we aspire to work within an ethos based on the principles of equality and justice, transparency and togetherness.

Alongside with the Nepalese who were with us during the earthquake. we will communicate and work directly with rural communities to find out what their local economic needs are.

Heartbroken for this beautiful nation, many of the survivors of the earthquake who were stranded at Bamboo village in the Langtang valley have now returned to their various countries, undertaking fundraising initiatives for Nepal.

Many of us have pledged to go back to nepal and help personally.

Friends from all over the world with the wide -reaching professions and skills have joint together to create this NGO and we would love to extend an open invitation, all those who would like to help Living Nepal, and make a change in this devastated country

As one of the poorest countries in the world, the Nepalese need an enormous amount of help.

By donating to our project, and helping us spread awareness around this campaign worldwide, you will give the Nepalese a chance of happiness once again

Thank you, in advance.
