Veterinary Science Degree

Hello :)

I am a Year 13 UK Student with an aspiration of becoming a vet. However, due to the high expenses, my financial options are limited.

I am very interested in pursuing a Veterinary Science degree, however I would also like to study abroad, as travelling is something that I am highly captivated by. The ability to study in another country would allow me to grasp the knowledge of culture, traditions and connect with international students likewise.  This once in a lifetime opportunity is exceptionally something I would like to undergo and it would mean a lot if my dream could become a reality.

Having grown up on a farm, I have always been fascinated by animals. The way that they communicate with humans without having to say words or speak the human language is astonishing. In the summer of 2018, we have bought a dog and instantly fell in love with him. He is our little family member, almost as if our sibling, our little light in the dark, and we cherish every single moment together. After a few days of buying him, our Yorkshire terrier became ill and needed antibiotics and a drip. The cause of his illness was the decreased immunity against infections, possibly because when separated from the mother, he lost immunity even though he was at the right age to buy him. At the time, the vet said that the next 48 hours would be crucial and that time would decide the future of our puppy. Miracly, he returned to health and since that event, my interest in becoming a veterinarian sparked. I want to help other animals regain their health and spend their future with lovable families. I never want any person to experience what we went through. Even though we have just bought him, it was like losing a part of myself. The thought of him being gone was like living through a nightmare. A nightmare that would have been a reality if the veterinarian did not save him and I will forever be thankful.

Due to wanting to study within Europe, I am not eligible for support from Student Finance in the UK. Therefore, this means that the degree overseas would have to be funded either from my savings or from additional, external support. However, I am unable to pay for the degree myself because I do not have the funds. There is an option to pay in instalments but the tuition would still cost too much for me to finance by myself, especially when I'm only 17 years old.

I have outlined the following costs below:

The cost of the degree for 5.5 years would be € 43,000. Accomodation would be             € 7260 for the 5.5 years and living expenses would be € 5,000.

I understand that this is a lot of money, however, it would be a dream come true. A dream to save animals.

I would be extremely grateful for any support :D
