Veterinary Costs for Hobbes
Late in the evening of January 4th, our favorite kitty was hit by at least one car. The accident left Hobbes with a fractured femur and a ruptured bladder. Fortunately, the doctors says that these are both things that can be fixed with minimal (if any) disruption to her post recovery life. The unfortunate part is that the estimated cost for these surgeries is $10,000.
As a family of four that has finally gotten off food stamps and cash aid, we are still working towards a place of greater finacial safety. Our houshold has two adults and two kids. All of us are in school full time, working towards a better lifestyle-Hobbes is the glue that keeps us together.
Below is a little more information about our cat and just part of why we love her:
Like most parents, I think Hobbes is the greatest cat to walk the planet (…and I even have non-furry kids). We will do our best to try to explain the phenomenal creature that has decided to keep us as her own. Hobbes is an extraordinary cat and a philanthropist. Although she is not certified as a companion pet, she provides an exorbitant amount of love and support to each of our family members. Every night when we read the kids a book before bed, Hobbes will come and lay on the kids, making sure to take turns between the kids so no one’s feelings are hurt. In the mornings, she comes with me to wake up the kids and to steal their warm beds while they get dressed and ready to go, then we all migrate to the kitchen to eat together. When the kids get home from school, she will often sit (or nap) nearby in the sun while they play. Among many other things, Hobbes has adopted the children of our family and snuggles with them through their toughest times.
My significant other, a disabled Veteran with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, has a connection with Hobbes that can’t be described. She helps him get through his anxiety, anger, depression, and she even hangs out with him when he’s feeling normal too. The list of Hobbes’ spectacular and unique qualities would take too much time to explain, but there is nothing I wouldn’t do to fix my sweet little couch otter. She is not only our cherished little lap cat, but on many occasions, acts as our family dog ray of joyous sunshine. She is Hobbes is a sweet, caring, and demanding little beast that is so patient with our family. Hobbes has inspired so much growth, support, and communication in our family that it feels like sometimes she’s the glue that holds all of our pieces together. My family has overcome many issues because Hobbes is so loving and intuitive. Failing this perfect creature and not repairing the ailments is a harsh reality to face. Not saving the life of a member pf my family because we don’t make enough money is unbearable. This beautiful cat takes up most of the space on my camera roll. Putting Tyra Banks to shame, she is elegant and perfectly debonair – and she deserves many more years of being the center of attention in our home.
