Vatican came into my care on May 13, 2025, in heartbreaking condition—covered in fleas, filthy, and with overgrown nails. His previous owner could no longer care for him and was willing to give him to anyone. The only background information I received was that he's approximately 5 years old, unvaccinated, not neutered, and heartworm positive. It's impossible to know how long he's been suffering.

Vatican has an appointment at Down Home Veterinary Wellness on Saturday, May 17th around 1:30 PM. He’ll be getting his vaccinations, a fecal test, and a heartworm test. They’ll likely start him on preventative medication at that time as well. These initial costs are estimated between $95–$110, and I’ll upload the receipt once paid.

For his heartworm treatment, Vatican is scheduled to visit Miramar Animal Hospital on Friday, May 23rd at 11 AM. There, he will have radiographs taken, begin a course of doxycycline, and I’ll receive a treatment estimate for the next steps.

Vatican has clearly had a rough start—likely for all five years of his life. I'm committed to turning things around for him and giving him the life he deserves. After he completes treatment and is neutered, I will ensure he finds the best possible home, just as I’ve done with every foster I've brought into my care.
