Please Help our great friend, Versey Bell, a PCA on 5B an oncology floor at Brigham and Women's Hospital. She was away visiting family in California with her boyfriend when she was notified that a lit candle in a basement apartment set blaze to her three family home in Dorchester on Christmas Eve (where she lives and is attending nursing school and working).
Steve MacDonald, a spokesman for the Boston Fire Department, said that luckily no one was injured in the fire. Yet, herself, her boyfriend, and her boyfriend's parents/family remain displaced until an inspector deems the building safe and the utilities can be turned back on.
Even though the blaze was mostly contained to the basement, there was smoke damage on other floors and damage to some walls after firefighters checked to see if they ignited. There were estimated damages at $150,000 or more.
Please pitch in whatever you can to help Versey and her family rebuild and replace many items that need to be replaced.
