UMD Study Abroad in Japan

Hello Everyone!
I am graduating May 22, 2014 from the University of Maryland, College Park with my Bachelor of Science in Physical Sciences with a focus on Mechanical Engineering.
Throughout my time at Maryland had the opportunity to study the Japanese and language and culture. I set a personal goal to visit Japan for a firsthand experience. I have been blessed to be accepted into the Experiencing Japanese College Life - Kyoto and Beyond program.
This is a short term summer program offered by the University of Maryland that will take place primarily in Kyoto, Japan. Participation in this program will enable me to immerse myself in Japanese culture and advance my knowledge by studying at Doshisha University. Additionally, I will be spending a week living with a Japanese host family. If you would like to learn more about the program please click here.
My goal is to raise $7000 for the following expenses.
The cost of the program is $3,865.00. This covers the course and my housing.
A round trip flight from Washington, D.C. or Baltimore is estimated at $1900.
The remainder of the money will go towards expenditures not covered by the program such as meals, gifts/souvenirs, transportation, exploration, and other activities to fully experience the country.
