On Monday, August 1st, Vern English passed away. He was the founder of Vern’s Taxi Service, and I look back fondly on the time we shared serving and mingling with the good people in this beautiful town. It was a blessing to have a father who was such a positive member of his community. When he was first starting the business he worked ridiculous hours, sometimes only taking a day or two off in an entire month. He told me his inspiration for starting the business was to be able to support me.
He shared his final days visiting with friends and family, reminiscing positive memories. Experiences and adventures from the taxi days were looked back on fondly. Despite numerous serious health issues, he retained his faculties and cheerful attitude through the very end. I was really happy that so many people came together to make him comfortable and give him a peaceful passing. He went out with a smile on his face.
My father will live on in my heart as a paragon of morality and courage. He was forced to endure very serious hardships from a young age. Though despite all the bad things that happened to him, he never lost the goodness within his heart. His refusal to become corrupted no matter what life threw at him make him my hero.
I am in the process of getting all of his affairs settled after his passing. I don’t have any money saved, so any donations received will be used on the cremation, attorney, and moving fees. Thank you all for your consideration and support.
