Vern Hellbusch-Brooke Medical Fund

I am reaching out to the community to help our friends during a trying time.  Many of you in Poway, CA with teenagers may know the Brookes.  Vernon (Hellbusch-Brooke) and Kimberly have two boys, Anthony and Brandon.  On August 24th, 2017 Vernon ‘Vern’, the father, was in a horrible motorcycle accident going to work on Mira Mesa Boulevard when a bicyclist ran a red light and they collided.  See article here:
http://fox5sandiego.com/2017/08/24/bicyclist-suffers-head-injury-in-crash-with-motorcycle/

Vern suffers from fractures in his skull, face and spine.  He has been in a medically-induced coma since the accident until swelling in his head subsides.  He recently underwent craniotomy surgery to repair fractures to his skull.  No responses yet but vitals are good.

As Vern is the major bread-winner for the family, this has taken a financial toll on them.  Kimberly works part-time but was told she doesn’t qualify for FMLA due to her part-time position.  She cannot even take off work to be in the hospital, she must go after-hours.  She is doing what she can but is worried about their financial situation.

This truly could not have happened to better people.  They are active in their church and community.  They are a very tight and loving family.  Both Kimberly and oldest son Anthony have deafness disabilities but that does not stop them from being active and spending quality time with family and friends.

The hand signs for 'I love you':

I am reaching out to ask for any financial assistance to aid in the medical bills that continue to accrue as well as bridge the gap of Vern’s income to meet their needs.  He has a long road ahead and I really want them to get through this and ease the financial burden that they are facing. This is heart-wrenching to see them go through this.
Our families have spent time together as our boys are close friends.  Their son Brandon is like one of my own, he travels with us on vacations and spends summers up at my father’s ranch working hard.  Both Anthony and Brandon are very good and respectful boys, something you do not often see these days.  A testament to how well Vern and Kimberly have raised them.

I will keep posting Vern’s progress as it continues.  Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.
