THE BIGGEST MIGRANT CRISIS IN THE AMERICAS
Venezuela is facing the worst economic and humanitarian crisis in its history. Soaring hyperinflation has led to chronic food and medicine shortages.
Everyday 40 thousand of desperate and starving Venezuelans cross into Colombia (its main neighboring country) in search of food and hard currency. Homelessness, labour and sexual exploitation, crime rates, and xenophobic responses are on the rise in Colombian border towns.
HELP US TO HELP THEM
It is urgent to strengthen the humanitarian response to the crisis. The Place + Space Collective, an interdisciplinary academic solidarity collective based at Simon Fraser University, is running a campaign to support the Attention Center for Migrants and Refugees, a charity organization located on the Colombian municipality of Maicao, bordering Venezuela.
This center provides food, shelter, legal advice and psychosocial assistance for free to Venezuelan migrants regardless of their migratory status.

Venezuela está viviendo la peor crisis económica y humanitaria de su historia. La hiperinflación está haciendo que la escasez de alimentos y medicinas alcance un punto crítico. Cada día, alrededor de 40 mil venezolanxs desesperadxs y hambrientxs cruzan la frontera con Colombia en búsqueda de comida e ingresos, lo que ha provocado un aumento significativo de la indigencia, la explotación laboral y sexual, las tasas de criminalidad y las respuestas xenófobas en las ciudades colombianas fronterizas.
AYÚDENOS A AYUDAR
Es urgente fortalecer la atención humanitaria en las ciudades limítrofes con Venezuela. Por esta razón, el colectivo Place + Space, un grupo académico interdisciplinario basado en la universidad Simon Fraser (Canadá), está promoviendo una campaña para apoyar el Centro de Atención para los Migrantes y Refugiados, ubicado en el municipio fronterizo de Maicao (Colombia).
Este centro es administrado por la Pastoral Social y cumple con la función de ofrecer alojamiento, alimentación, asesoría legal y atención psicosocial gratuita a los inmigrantes venezolanos, sea cual sea su estatus migratorio.
