Venance Cares and Climbs

My name is Venance, I am the founder and director of the Venance Care Foundation in Arusha, Tanzania. We are a non-profit and non-governmental foundation that provides affordable education for preschool children who live in poverty. My dream is to one day open a school from preschool through standard 7 so I can help as many local poverty-stricken children as possible. We were donated a parcel of farmland to use as way to raise money, and to eventually build the school of my dreams on.

I am climbing the Marangu route of Mt. Kilimanjaro on the 25th of June, 2018, to raise funds for our self-sustaining farming project that supports the foundation and will ultimately support the building of my dream school.  Donations will directly fund the drilling of the water well (€7,500EUR)($9,000USD) on the farm which allows us to irrigate year round. Currently, we are only able to farm during the 3 rainy months of the year.  Money raised will also directly fund the cost of: the water storage tank (€1,300EUR) ($1,500USD), water pump (€1,100EUR), solar panels and storage battery (€1,300EUR)($1,500USD), water storage tank stand (€1,000EUR)(1,200USD) and the irrigation system (€650EUR)($800USD). 

The rainy season is from March through June and it is my goal to raise enough money to cover the costs of enabling our farming project to become self-sustaining year-round.  As mentioned, I will be climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro on June 25th, and my goal is to have raised the money when I summit.
