Family in dire need of a reliable vehicle to make weekly medical visits
Meet the Kingz family from Beamsville ON. You may have seen Adam Kingz on many different media outlets. Adam is well known for his story of being one of the few 2 time double lung transplant recipient and Sick Kids Hospital’s longest living lung transplant survivor. Adam had his first double lung transplant at just 13 years old. The lungs that he received in his early teens later went into chronic rejection, prompting Adam to undergo another double lung transplant in his late twenties. Adam and his wife Ashley are huge advocates for organ donation awareness. Not a day goes by that this family doesn’t thank the donors for giving him a new lease on life. Unfortunately along with these healthy lungs comes weekly doctors’ appointments for anti-rejection treatments and health checks. These doctors’ appointments necessitate traveling from their home in Beamsville to doctors in Grimsby, St. Catherines and Toronto, and the lack of public transit means they need a reliable car. Just recently their vehicle started to fail on them and when they took it to the mechanic to assess the damage the mechanic said it is not fixable.
We are trying to raise Adam enough just to buy a reliable used vehicle. Adam and his family currently receive their income through Ontario Disability Support Program. Although this program is amazing at helping families that can’t work due to disability, it is not enough for him to save to buy a vehicle. Having a reliable vehicle provides a lifeline to the care and treatment Adam requires to keep his body from rejecting his latest set of lungs.
This is a family that gives back to their community by supporting charities with their time and raising money for other communities members in need, and now they are in desperate need for some of that same support. We would be forever grateful if you could share his story and even if you can only donate a few dollars, every little bit helps.
