Vehicle for foreign International Student (Laura)
Laura is a 22-year-old international student with two great loves: Jesus Christ and languages. As she seeks to join these passions and follow a calling from the Lord to study Hebrew and Greek, she needs your support to raise funds for vehicle repairs that will allow her to continue her education.
Born and raised in Italy, Laura came to know the Lord 4 years ago and felt her life forever changed. She decided to use her fluency in Italian, English, Spanish, German and Russian to serve as an interpreter for non-profit organizations that assisted and preached the Gospel to unreached people groups.
This work proved fulfilling, but Laura eventually felt the Lord calling her to learn Greek and Hebrew to further contribute to the spreading of God’s Word in the world. After months of prayer, the Lord led her to study Biblical Languages at Houston Baptist University (HBU) in Houston, Texas. This not only required her to move to the United States from Italy, but she also had to do so in the midst of a pandemic. Furthermore, her family was unable to support her financially, but she chose to trust God and move in obedience.
She quickly realized a vehicle was necessary for her to travel between home and school in a city as large as Houston. A friend helped her find an affordable vehicle from a private seller, but the seller was dishonest, and the car immediately broke down. It requires several costly repairs, and because Laura is an international student on a F-1 visa, she is only allowed to work on HBU’s campus. Despite having two jobs at HBU and working the maximum number of hours allotted to students, she barely makes enough to cover her living expenses.
In order to continue serving the Lord and completing her study of Biblical Languages, she needs your support to raise funds to pay off the loan she has with her friend and repair her vehicle.
