For those of you that know me, I am not the type of person to ask for help very often. I believe that God has and always will provide for us what we need, when we need it. However, there are moments that take place when God calls upon others to provide as well, and I believe that this is one of those times.
On Wednesday, September 6, around 12:30 in the afternoon, my sister Erin Dines was at work. She has always loved animals and that led her to work at a doggie day care facility in South Bend, IN, when she hard a noise from the front of the building. There she found one employee struggling with trying to separate two foster dogs that were being kept there that day. Erin jumped in to help her coworker, when the larger of the two dogs immediately turned its attention to her. It bit down many times into her arm, with several of the wounds penetrating to the bone or taking a chunk out of her arm muscle.
She was immediately taken to the hospital where the doctors have told her that she has a long road to recovery, likely including several surgeries to reconstruct her arm, as well as a lot of physical therapy to follow. In the time that has followed, she has maintained an upbeat attitude, knowing that God will provide, and she told me that she knew that we were praying for her while she was at the hospital because of the calm that God granted her in the midst of the chaos.
The money that we are asking to raise will go to Erin and her husband, Mike in an effort to offset the lost wages during this extremely difficult time. We have been told that the effort to get things both physically and financially back to were they were before will be a long road, but I know that we can help them together.
