Hope for Jamie

Our friend Jamie is not just a loving mother of three beautiful boys, she's a wife, a sister, a daughter, and a wonderful colleague. She's a person who shines. She has spirit she radiates life and joy.
Now, unexpectedly, she's in a battle for her life. Two weeks ago she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Today, Sept. 7, she's taking the first step in her treatment. This treatment involves major surgery and a long round of chemotherapy. The treatment is very expensive.
Though the family has national insurance, the standard in Costa Rica, the public health system here does not recognize urgency in care. She was told she would have to wait a minimum of 3 months to receive her surgery. By that time, it could be too late, so Jamie and her husband made the decision to pursue treatment through the private medical system. Jamie has a family who needs her, getting the treatment she needs right now is imperative to her recovery. Her treatment has drained the family savings, and her national insurance will not cover any of her medical expenses.
With a little help from her friends, Jamie and her family can have some relief from the burden of mounting medical bills. If we can help remove even a small part of the unrelenting financial stress, Jamie and her family can focus on fighting her cancer, and getting on the road to recovery.
We are starting this campaign with the hopes of helping Jamie and her family now. The next few months are going to be really tough on the family and we want to be able to offer them any relief we can, NOW when they need it most.
