As many of you may have heard on Sunday, 8th of April, our boy Jack Ginn was the victim of a senseless one punch attack whilst out with friends. In an attempt to defuse an incident between his friend and another person, Jack was hit from the side while moving his friend away and then set upon. The force of this cowardly attack broke his jaw, shattered his left eye socket, broke his nose, fractured his right eye socket and left many other fractures throughout his face.
As we all know, Jack is a gentle lad who does not deserve what has befallen him. He did not in anyway provoke this violent incident, which is becoming a scourge on our society. For those of you who do not know Jack personally, he is a likeable young man, a loved son and big brother, with a beautiful nature who, at the tender age of 20, is still finding his way. Jack’s character is to help others - he recently assisted with the water rescue and revival of a young woman at Crystal Creek, QLD and until a month ago worked for two years in the Special Education Program at Pimlico High School where he was loved by students and staff alike. In short, he is a young man of character who has helped others in the past; we now appeal to you to help Jack.
Jack will require extensive reconstructive surgery to fix these injuries. His first operation is on Tuesday 17th of April and further operations may be required to fix the injuries to the right side of his face and reconstruct his nose. Jack’s appearance may be altered, however, in many ways his family is so thankful to God that the injuries weren’t more severe or fatal.
Jack’s complete recovery and rehabilitation will take a minimum of 12 months. His mum has also put her job on hold to care for Jack at home. All funds raised will go towards Jack’s medical and living costs, given he will not be able to work for some time over this period.
