WHO ARE WE? Our names are Julia Munčs and Hannah Pearson. We are two unstoppable women committed to producing puppets and performances of the highest quality. We aspire to tell daring stories that delight and challenge our audiences. PUPPETS NOT PATRIARCHY is a not-for-profit ensemble-based physical theatre company that splits time between Montreal, QC and Vancouver, BC.
OUR CORE VALUES - OPEN MINDEDNESS - TRUTH TELLING - EMPOWERMENT - COMPASSION - CURIOSITY - COURAGE - COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
WHAT ARE DONATIONS USED FOR? We are fundraising for our puppet show CLIO - a fun, honest, whimsical investigation of how female pleasure is understood culturally through the personification of a giant clitoris puppet. The money we raise will help us cover the great costs of puppet materials, props, our show venue, publicity and marketing - plus compensation for the artists and designers who have helped us along the way. We are a not-for-profit society and all proceeds go towards creating, developing and producing this show.
CLIO Clio lives in a world where she feels invisible and alienated. No-one ever told her who she really is or what she is capable of. CLIO. A journey of self-discovery and a purging of guilt and shame. Demystifying female pleasure and becoming cliterate. A giant clitoris puppet learning to love herself.
WHERE? Festival St-Ambroise FRINGE Montréal 2018 Venue #8 Black Theatre Workshop 3680 Jeanne Mance St, Montreal, QC, H2X 2K5
WHEN? June 8th - 17th
WHY? Because of the lack of education concerning female pleasure. Because of the myths and misinformation we receive daily. We live in a paradox: everywhere we go, we see sexualized images of female bodies, but so many women are not actually experiencing the pleasure they are capable of. Our project is about the clitoris. We are tired of this primary sexual organ being ignored. We want to break through taboos and start thinking and talking about the clit. We want the clit to be treated on equal terms as the penis and we want real orgasms for all!
If any of these issues resonate with you… and you believe in the power of theatre… please consider donating or sharing our page. No donation is too big or too small ;) Any show of support is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
