<div>Ο Βασίλης είναι 43 χρονών και ο ίδιος και η οικογένεια του κατάγονται από την Ορμύλια Χαλκιδικής. Ο Βασίλης διαγνώστηκε με μια σπάνια και επιθετική μορφή καρκίνου στο νεφρό. Ο αγώνας του είναι ιδιαίτερα δύσκολος, τόσο για τον ίδιο όσο και για την οικογένειά του. Παρ’ όλα αυτά, συνεχίζει να παλεύει με δύναμη, αξιοπρέπεια και απίστευτο κουράγιο.

<div>Στην Ελβετία έλαβε όλη τη διαθέσιμη ιατρική φροντίδα που μπορούσε να του προσφερθεί. Ωστόσο, λόγω της σπανιότητας και της πολυπλοκότητας της ασθένειάς του, κρίθηκε απαραίτητο τον Οκτώβριο του 2025 να μεταβεί στο MD Anderson, στις Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες, όπου έλαβε υποστήριξη σχετικά με την θεραπεία του απο εξειδικευμένη ιατρική ομάδα στον τύπο καρκίνου του Βασίλη.

<div>Λόγω του υψηλού κόστους των θεραπειών, ο Βασίλης επέστρεψε στην Ελβετία όπου λαμβάνει ιατρική φροντίδα ενώ παράλληλα η ομάδα των γιατρών σε Ελβετία και Αμερική βρίσκονται σε συνεχή επικοινωνία.

<div>Παρά τις προσπάθειες των τοπικών γιατρών, ο Βασίλης θα χρειαστεί να μεταβεί εκ νέου στην Αμερική ώστε να λάβει μία ακόμα θεραπεία και ίσως μια πιθανή εγχείρηση. Οι θεραπείες αυτές του προσφέρουν ελπίδα και πολύτιμο χρόνο, όμως συνοδεύονται από εξαιρετικά υψηλό κόστος.

<div>Το οικονομικό βάρος είναι τεράστιο και διαρκές, το οποίο μέχρι τώρα καλυπτόταν από τον Βασίλη και το οικογενειακό του περιβάλλον. Στις Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες, οι σχετικές δαπάνες δεν καλύπτονται από την ασφάλεια υγείας και πρέπει να καλυφθούν εξ ολοκλήρου από την οικογένεια του Βασίλη, κάτι που πλέον δεν είναι εφικτό.

<div>Αυτή η δωρεά δεν αφορά μόνο τα χρήματα.

<div>Αφορά το να δώσουμε στον Βασίλη χρόνο.
</div>
<div>Χρόνο με την οικογένειά του. Χρόνο για να βλέπει τον γιο του, τον Γιώργο, να μεγαλώνει. Χρόνο για να συνεχίσει να παλεύει, γνωρίζοντας ότι δεν είναι μόνος σε αυτή τη δύσκολη πορεία.

<div>My name is Olga, and I am writing these words with love and hope for my brother-in-law, Vasilis.
</div>

<div>Vasilis is 43 years old, and he and his family are originally from Ormylia, Halkidiki. He has been diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of kidney cancer. His battle is extremely difficult, both for him and for his family. Despite this, he continues to fight with strength, dignity, and incredible courage.

<div>In Switzerland, he received all the medical care that was available to him. However, due to the rarity and complexity of his condition, it was deemed necessary in October 2025 for him to travel to MD Anderson in the United States, where he received guidance regarding his treatment from a medical team specialized in Vasilis’s type of cancer. Because of the high cost of treatment, Vasilis returned to Switzerland, where he continues to receive medical care, while his doctors in Switzerland and the United States remain in constant communication.

<div>Despite the efforts of his local doctors, Vasilis will need to travel to the United States again to receive another treatment and possibly undergo surgery. These treatments offer him hope and precious time, but they come with extremely high costs.
</div>

<div>The financial burden is enormous and ongoing, and until now it has been covered by Vasilis and his family. In the United States, the related medical expenses are not covered by health insurance and must be paid entirely by his family, which is no longer financially possible.
</div>

<div>This fundraiser is not only about money.

<div>It is about giving Vasilis time.
</div>
<div>Time with his family.
</div>
<div>Time to watch his son, Giorgos, grow up.
