Varrick Shae Mesko was created for a purpose. It was evident the moment she came into this world she would be a fighter.
The first moments of her life were spent unresponsive, blue, not breathing. It wasn't known then, but this would be the beginning of a battle for her life.
In October of last year Varrick was admitted to the hospital with RSV, she was having severe trouble breathing. This would begin a series of multiple hospital stays and discharges with no progress as to why this little girl, even when healthy couldn't maintain a healthy oxygen level.
After pushing doctors to run more tests, trying to convince doctor's that there was something more than "this is just her normal", continued prayer her family has finally gotten answers.
In May of this year Varrick was diagnosed with an extremely rare desease. Cogential Central Hypoventilation Syndrome (CCHS).
CCHS is a rare genetic disorder of the central nervous system affecting approximately 1200 individuals worldwide. It impairs the body’s ability to breathe automatically, especially during sleep.
With this diagnosis comes MANY answered prayers, but also MANY unknowns. Varricks future is unknown, but this lifelong desease diagnosis is a starting point for figuring it out. There is huge potential for NEW or multiple diagnosis' as they begin intense testing and monitoring.
Along with a rare desease diagnosis comes specialized care for little V. She has been transferred to a hospital outside of our home town so she can get the care and tests she needs.
With this transfer comes big expenses. Housing, time off work, food, out of network payments. No parent ever prepares for this, and this has rocked Kendra & Ryan, but they still have faith.
Kendra has spent so much time pouring into others, inspiring them with her family's story. She shows up with a smile on her face and has embraced this journey with steadfast faith. It's time for us to pay it forward to her.
We know that God is going to use this story for good and have faith that Varrick will be a redemption story. She has touched SO many lives already and will only continue to inspire and encourage others.
