Vargas Family Hurricane Maria Fund

As everyone knows, Hurricane Maria has completely devastated the island of Puerto Rico. This disaster is one which will take years to rebuild from and we're hoping and praying for everyone that is trying to get by and stay safe during this time. 

This catastrophe has really hit home for Ray and his family, as his grandparents--Reinaldo and Milagros Vargas--live in the town of Caguas, which saw the eye of the storm.

Their home suffered damages that can thankfully be repaired and replaced, such as broken windows, doors and a water cistern that is absolutely necessary for them to receive clean water for drinking, bathing, and cooking. 

Additionally, Ray's grandfather is a true survivor. He has suffered many heart-related health scares over the years and currently survives with only 30% of his heart working. He depends on life-saving medications to keep him alive. Since the storm hit, Ray's grandparents have struggled to source basic resources such as water and food, as well as to find power/cell service to keep us updated. Their local hospital is still unable to provide basic care and medicine for them.

On Tuesday, October 17th Ray will be traveling down to Puerto Rico to bring them two suitcases full of supplies, food and a one month supply of medicine that we've been able to purchase locally. He will be there for three days to assess the damages, gather information and help them as much as possible. Our end goal is to secure their house, and fly them to the US so that we can provide them with access to consistent medical care and make them comfortable until the situation becomes more stable. We're looking to raise funds immediately for:

- Provide the Vargas family with basic resources while they are in Puerto Rico
- Airfare for them to travel to the US
- Medicine for Reinaldo
- Funds to help in their care while in the US

We understand that there are many different charities that you can support and hope that you do so. This specific fund is one of many stories out there. But we can ensure that every dollar will go to help a very deserving family that needs help today.
