Vanisky Family House Fire Fund



On Saturday, December 9th, our neighbors, Doug and Clarisa Vanisky, lost their home when their garage caught on fire.   The fire quickly burned because of high winds through the garage, paritially through the house and through the roof. The entire house was damaged by fire, smoke, and water and is uninhabitable. All of their belongings were damaged and are unusable. Because they rent their home, the insurance does not cover any of the belongings, transitional housing costs, or relocation costs. They only have what they were wearing when they fled from the house. We are seeking funds to help house them while they look for an apartment or house for approximentally a month at a temporary house or hotel, funds for deposit and first month's rent, furnishings and supplies for the home, and clothing and supplies for themselves and their two children which is the bulk of the financial burden. We are specifically are accepting donations of housing supplies and furniture. If you live in the Portland area and have donations, please email to set up pick up or drop off. If you are in the Portland area and have extra housing and can help with transitional housing, please contact us immediately. Anything you can spare $20, $50. $100 will be helpful as they literally are with only the clothes on their backs.

Hi everyone. Thank you for all your support. The most important thing right now is housing. The best way to support this is with money donations so we can get them into a home. If you have an Airbnb or apartment available immediately for a few weeks or more please let us know. Clothing, furniture, etc is appreciated but not immediately as we don’t have anywhere to store it. Money or an available home is the most immediate need.
