Help us make Vănguard's third issue possible and be a part of our queer revolution!
Dear Friends, Families & Supporters,
Welcome to the fundraising page for Vănguard’s third issue. After a successful release of our second issue, Vănguard has decided to continue with the project and a third issue is currently planned for release in the summer of 2016. Since Vănguard is a self-funded independent and underground publication, we are asking for your help to make this all possible.
For those who have been following us since the beginning, they know that Vănguard is not just a publication. It is a community of queer artists and a creative platform that challenges censorship. Vănguard also connects art with the common people by securing accessibility (our zine is free to be viewed online, see below for link) and creating opportunities to be published. Throughout the two years of our existence, Vănguard has played a vital part in creating a community in Vietnam where queerness and art intersect. As Vănguard is guided by the philosophy of community members supporting each other, most of the work that goes into this project is unpaid. Having said that, ALL of the money you donate will help us continue to build and sustain that community in addition to publishing the zine.
For those who have enjoyed the zine or benefitted from it in the past, we ask you to consider making a donation so that others may enjoy it as well. From the $1000 that we are aiming to raise, $500 will be allocated for printing and the other $500 for our release party. We have also set up a couple of cool prizes as an incentive and to show our deepest appreciation. Thank you for your time and we are excited to see where 2016 leads us.

Năm 2014 đánh dấu sự ra đời của Vănguard, tập zine được sáng lập bởi 2 người bạn Aiden và Nu tại Saigon, dành cho cộng đồng LGBTQ ở đây. Vănguard mong muốn là nơi mỗi cá nhân nghệ sỹ, nhà văn LGBTQ cảm thấy an toàn, tự do thể hiện sự sáng tạo và có tiếng nói riêng của mình. Từ đó tạo nên sự gắn kết cho cộng đồng nghệ sỹ LGBTQ thông qua các hoạt động văn học nghệ thuật và xã hội.
Mission Statement (English):
Vănguard is an underground Zine founded in 2014 by two friends, Aiden and Nu, during their visit to Việt Nam. Our mission is to empower and endorse the visibility and individuality of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender/trans* & queer (LGBTQ) artists and writers living in Sài Gòn. We hope to establish a safe platform where LGBTQ individuals can freely express themselves and have their voices heard. Lastly, we aim to foster solidarity and unite the LGBTQ community through art, literature and activism.
