Vanessa's Puppy-Rescue

My dear friend Vanessa who regularly visits Jamaica to be with her Jamaican partner, and due to Covid-19 she has been stranded on the island since March of 2020.
In May, she came across a stray female dog, roaming the area where she currently lives and discovered that everyone on the street calls her Red Bull (because she is full of energy).
Since making enquiries in May, no one has claimed responsibility for the dog and as Vanessa and her partner have a dog of their own, they naturally began to tending to Red Bull, making sure she had food, meaning that they slowly began gaining her trust, however the dog is still very much a stray.
On December 9th 2020, Red Bull had 7 puppies (4 boys and 3 girls). She had hidden them in a burrow in the bushes at first, but as they are getting bigger, they started to move around and got tangled in the shrubs. Since then, Vanessa and her partner have set up a more secure burrow and Red Bull has been a great mama, tending to her pups. However, they are getting older and growing rapidly and Red Bull is starting to tend to them less frequently.
Their ideal hope is to find them all loving homes. Even though people may want a dog at first, it is not always guaranteed that they will look after them. The sad truth is that animals are often mistreated in Jamaica and many consider a dog not as a pet with needs, but as their property that they keep in their yard and feed any leftovers they have. Many animals, especially the strays, rely on the kindness of tourists and the foreigners on the island for some food. Organizations that tend to animals are mainly run by volunteers and as is expected, Covid-19 has taken its toll on the animals on the island due to the lack of tourists and the shelters cannot take in any more animals in due to full capaicity and low numbers of people who can volunteer.
Even though they may find homes, there is of course the possibility that they may end up as strays in the future. To ensure that they have a fighting chance, before the puppies are given away to their new homes, we want to make sure they all get at least their first vaccination as well as deworming and this is what we will be raising funds for. Any additional funds will go towards buying these hungry growing pups food.
Vanessa is very experienced dog-owner is in contact with a great vet who makes house calls and has treated her own dog since he needed his first vaccination.
We are hoping to raise £165 within the next week or two so the puppies can be adopted out safely towards the end of January, as the mama doggo is starting to tend to them less often and the puppies will start to roam soon.
While it would be an impossible task to save every animal across the island, Vanessa and I hope that we can at least make sure that these little pups get a good start and that we can find them good and loving homes.
