Vanessa Radiation Therapy

Hi everyone I would like to introduce you to my beautiful cousin Vanessa (in the middle) she is 44 years young and needs urgent help.

Vanessa as a result of her long and painful journey towards her final diagnosis, has undergone numerous life setbacks.  Beginning with the loss of employment and ending with the loss of her beloved home. With her final diagnosis comes the reality of never having either of these things again. Due to her ongoing treatment, she will no longer be able to hold down steady employment. Vanessa is hopefully towards the end of the lengthy process of applying for a disability pension. Vanessa is currently renting a property which has due to its location, become unacceptable and unaffordable. The hour long journey either way to her treatment has been taking its toll and is affecting her recovery. A very difficult journey in either direction. Her wonderful Mother and Step Father have been doing all they can to support her. However with them being retired are unable to provide any further financial assistance. This also is impacting on Vanessa’s recovery as she is very aware they should be continuing their travels around this amazing country of ours. Vanessa and her partner are currently down to a single casual income and are struggling to survive and to support her beloved fur babies.

After seeking medical treatment for many months and being incorrectly diagnosed for many a condition from Gastroenteritis to Stomach Ulcers and everything in between. She was finally and tragically diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer. The cancer has spread to her liver and she has a spot on her lung. In the last 8 months Vanessa has been undergoing aggressive chemotherapy and has responded well and made great progress. As a result her medical team now looking at surgery to remove the tumours the first of which is on her liver. With surgery on her bowel to follow. With cancer cells now being greatly reduced these surgeries are her best chance of survival. However the costs of these surgeries are well beyond the reach of Vanessa and her Family.

We have set up this go fund me page to raise the funds for her life saving surgery. Her amazing oncologist, has been seeing her on a pro bono basis within the public system. The surgery will be organised under this arrangement. However there are other cost involved with this procedure that would need to be covered by Vanessa and her family before the surgery has taken place. The additional costs are associated with SIRT (Selective Internal Radiation Therapy) that will be conducted during the operation. The cost of this is in the vicinity of $10,000.00, an amount that is well beyond the reach of her family and friends. 

Vanessa is a strong beautiful woman who has so much of her life in front of her. Please if you can help us with the additional costs for this surgery it would be greatly appreciated.
