Vandegrift FFA Alumni Need Your Help!
Vandegrift FFA Alumni sponsor students, with funds necessary to cover travel and lodging for the FFA National Competition in Indianapolis, and we need YOUR help! Our amazing Veterinary Science team has worked thousands of hours learning and practicing Veterinary skills, winning District, Area, and earning first place out of over 1,400 teams in the State competition, and have advanced to represent Texas at Nationals! Unfortunately, there is a deficit in their travel budget, and they will need to come out of pocket to pay for much of their trip in October.
FFA Alumni Chapter also sponsors all Vandegrift Ag programs and provides thousands of dollars in college scholarships for qualified students who have actively participated in FFA. Proficiency awards are given to students who excel in their specialized competitions. We support the Ag Program at Vandegrift with funds used for classroom and barn supplies, as well as for the Greater Leander FFA Livestock Show awards. Students raising animals expend many hours and dollars raising their project animal. They travel an average of 15 miles each way to the Cedar Park FFA barn to take care of their livestock twice daily, every day. The average steer and heifer eat 20 pounds of feed a day--that is a bunch of trips to the feed store! Pigs, lambs and goats require many hours of work each week, along with their feed, and hay. All these project animals attend multiple livestock shows, and expenses are paid out of pocket by these hard working students. The level of commitment and dedication to the FFA as well as their project animals is unparalleled. Help us reward the Vandegrift Local Future Farmers of America Chapter by supporting the Vandegrift FFA Alumni. Right now we have a budget deficit of over $21,000 to continue our support for the Vandegrift FFA program, without any additional unexpected expenses - which includes helping support our Veterinary Science team traveling to Indiana for National Competition.
