Vandalena's Ghana Study Abroad

I am Vandalena Mahoney and I am a Junior at Loyola Marymount University. Throughout my college experience, I have established a greater understanding of what it means to be African American and the intricacies of the African Diaspora. I am from Inglewood, CA and have never experienced life outside of the United States. With my university providing the course, "Ghanaian History, Culture and Psychology", not only are we being taught the history, culture, and psychology from experts in the field, but this course is taught in Accra, Ghana so that we can gain hands-on experience in our learning. With traveling and excursion fees, this course costs around $7,800 and I have already raised $3,800. I only have $4,000 left to raise by April 20th! The course in Ghana will begin May 8th and ends May 29th. I was lucky to be mentored through Big Brothers Bis Sisters and the Hollywood Reporter Women in Entertainment Program and I learned that the sky is the limit so you have to ask for what you want and need to achieve your dreams.
